Our Vision: Houston is a city where all infants and toddlers are thriving.

Our Mission:  to increase positive early experiences for infants and toddlers and to better meet the needs of the families with young children in Houston.

The Houston Infant Toddler Coalition (HITC) is a collective of parents & leaders across the early childhood system developing strategies to shape Houston into a city where all infants and toddlers are thriving. We recognize that systems change happens through a collaborative, community-wide approach that brings together all those who are involved and impacted by the early childhood systems.

To effectively bring change and support Houston, HITC takes a multi-prong approach through three different workgroups that support the coalition.

  • The Awareness workgroup focuses on increasing public awareness about promoting early development

  • The Developmental Promotion workgroup seeks to improve developmental monitoring and quality of Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) referrals

  • The Workforce workgroup is supporting a knowledgeable cross-sector workforce

Members are invited to join the monthly working meetings where they can engage with fellow members within workgroups of their choice, but there are other opportunities to stay connected as well!

  • Task forces for specific short-term goals and opportunities, that meet more frequently over a shorter period

  • Networking events for members to get to know each other and amplify different programs and events

  • Regular email communication with HITC updates and member share outs

  • Volunteer opportunities and parent-facing events to engage community members
